Obedience is better than Sacrifice Nov. 1st, 2011

Sisters Birch and Hall

Hi everyone, Happy Halloween!

I hope you all had a wonderful happy week. It’s been a great week here in Liberty MO.

Transfers came and went and although I was expecting to be shipped out I wasn't! Fe was transferred instead to JUNCTION CITY (my first area).  It was one of the hardest transfers yet, but I am so happy for her. She is going to do so well out there.

I have been serving here at the Jail the longest out of all the Sisters...how weird is that? Sister Larson, Vickers and I were the ones that stayed. Sister Fe, Whittier and Hinckley were all transferred. Now each companionship has a Spanish-speaking companion. My new companion is Hermana Birch. (Somehow I keep getting Spanish-speaking companions. I'm not sure what that means exactly...but my new companion is just adorable. She is from Columbus Ohio, comes up to my shoulders in height, weighs 50 lbs and looks like she is 15 years old, (her words) and It seriously looks like I could eat her. She is fabulous. We have had so much fun together already. It's really going to be a good transfer. As hard and sad as it was to say goodbye to Fe I know this is what I need. Our Heavenly Father takes us out of our comfort zone, which forces us to adapt. I am so grateful; we have already seen so many miracles.

We have the greatest people in the Liberty 1st Ward. We love going to our dinner appointments and spending time with them. We had dinner with the Palmer family one night and their youngest son Jordan is sure funny. From the moment we walked in the door he didn't stop talking. While we were eating he started talking about Joseph Smith. He went on and on and finally turned to me, put his face up close to mine and said, "Joseph Smith is scary. He wears a cat mask and has really bad heartburn." Ha ha ha. Oh my goodness it was hilarious. I had no idea what he was talking about 90% of the time. Awesome kid. We also had dinner with the Jones family. I don't think I have ever seen more gospel centered, missionary minded kids than them. They are seriously the coolest. The love they have for us just melts my heart. As we were leaving their house, all 5 kids stood on the driveway and waved as we drove off. It was so cute.

We received a call from the AP's on Halloween saying that if we didn't have any set appointments after 7 p.m. then we needed to be home for the night. We had on more appointment before we headed for home.

Remember Brittany and Michael Hogan? We were teaching Michael when I first came to Liberty and then he suddenly fell off the face of the earth. Well yesterday we received a text from his wife Brittany. She wants to meet with us...tonight! What our appointment is going to consist of, I have no idea but I do know that this is all happening now for a reason. We are having great success finding new potentials and receiving wonderful support.

Continuing to serve among the Liberty 1st ward, serve in the Liberty Jail with these 5 wonderful sisters, my adopted senior couple parents along with all the other blessing is more than I deserve. Although I wasn't ready for the changes, I needed them. I know the Lord knows each of us. He helps us through our trials.

Sister Birch and I have set a goal to be exactly obedient this transfer. It’s so easy to fall into insignificant little habits that don't seem like a big deal but in regards to missionary work they are. Obedience is better than sacrifice and that is what we plan to do. We will be obedient for our Heavenly Father whom has called us to be missionaries here in Zion.

Thank you to each and every one of you for your love, support, prayers, letters, and examples. I would not be here without it.

I love each and every one of you.
Be safe.
Sister Hall.
