Miracles
Hi all. Hope you had a great holiday yesterday. As great as
holidays are it makes emailing a little difficult. This past week seems like an
eternity ago. Lets see if I can remember what happened...
On our p-day we went to Fort Larned where my Grandma Hall was
born. Sister Nancy Douglas who is in our ward and is also my Grandma Hall’s
second cousin, took us...bless her heart. Grandma Hall, I couldn’t find your
name carved in the wood but we did find lots of Sister Douglas’ relative’s
carved names. Sister Douglas is awesome.
Fort Larned, Kansas |
-Saul came to Church! Saul came to church! SAUL CAME TO
CHURCH!!!! I didn't even care that I couldn't understand a word he was saying
to me. I was just so happy to see him. We were able to teach him during the 2nd
hour and when he offered the closing prayer he promised he would come to church
every Sunday so he could continue to learn with the Hermanas. Hermana was the
only word I understood, the rest was later translated, but anyway, Saul came to
church!! Miracles!
- We had exchanges with the Manhattan sisters this last week.
Besides the 360 miles it took to travel we still had so much fun. Talk about
miracles. We were able to help boost the area and increase their teaching pool.
While Sister Kavea and I were tracting we started talking to a guy who was
smoking. As we talked to him we realized how ready he was for the gospel! We
talked about the Book of Mormon and set a return appointment with him for the
next day. Before we left he said, " Everything happens for a reason. Here
you are standing in front of me." When the sisters went back that next day
they came out of the appointment having a baptismal date! Miracles!
The only obstacle (literally) we hit was getting a flat tire.
Only I would find the one sharp pointy object in the road. As Sister Kavea and
I geared up to change the tire (this is where my auto tech class skills from
high school would have come in handy) an awesome kid taking out his garbage
offered his help. We happily accepted and we were able to talk with him as he
did all the work. The best part of the conversation was when he asked what the
difference was between a Mormon and a "jack Mormon". I had to laugh.
Sister Kavea being from Australia had no idea what it was either. I happily
explained. With all of Adams hard work on our car we were able to get a
potential out of him and we promised to make him cookies. Even a flat tire can
be a miracle!
After the tire incident we ended up getting 4 all new tires
because they were so terrible. The tire guy wondered how we had been making it
without blowing all of them out. That might explain the reason the car was
shaking so badly before. It’s all fixed now!
- My #1 favorite person in the Great Bend ward, Sister McCowan
doesn't have cancer!!! Miracle!
- During the first few weeks of being here in Great Bend the
Relief Society president received a phone call from a member in Colorado asking
if someone from the ward would give her Mom who lives in Kansas a blessing. She
has cancer and is going through chemo. They aren't members but have a
granddaughter that just left on a mission to Indonesia. Elder Knudsen was able
to give her the blessing and keep in contact with the family. My companion and
I have wanted to visit with them but hadn't been able to yet. While in
Manhattan we received a phone call from Elizabeth (the one going through chemo)
and asked us to come over for dinner that Friday! It worked out perfectly! We
had such a great time and loved getting to know them better. Although they may
not be ready for the church right now, we are happy to be their continual
positive exposure. Again, a miracle!
The Lord really is blessing us. I couldn't do this without
Him...or any of you. Thank you for all your extra prayers and support in my
behalf. You all mean way more to me than I can ever express.
Have a miracle week. Be safe.
Sister Kenz
