Miracle Tuesday

September 26, 2011

Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a great week.

Bree Arnold: I better get a letter from you before you leave! I'm so excited for you! Winter Quarters Visitors Center will be so lucky to have you!

Tuesday's seem to be me and Fe’s miracle day.
This last Tuesday we.......

-were blessed with 3 new investigators!
Samantha is 19. Her friend went to Nauvoo and referred her through the center. She seems like a really sweet girl. We hope to work with her more.

Judi is a HQ referral. We have been trying to contact her for weeks (seriously, everyday for 3 weeks straight) but had no luck. We tried her again Tuesday and sure enough she was home. She wants to learn more about the Relief Society program rather than the church. We are great with that; you can feel the spirit regardless of what it is :)

Sarah is a 13 year old girl who lives right next to our other investigator whose name happens to be Sarah as well. We think they may be related but were not positive. We haven't been able to meet with her very often but hope it will work out soon.

- We met one of our less actives for the first time in 14 weeks.
We knocked on her door expecting no answer as usual, when suddenly a daddy long leg spider came out of no where and Fe ran behind me for protection. (She can school just about anyone in basketball, but when it comes to grass and bugs she is a giant girl), so as I'm watching the spider suddenly Sister Mihalko comes out of her garage and gives us both a heart attack. She pulled out some serious spider killer from her car (apparently she kills spiders often) and we all watched it die. Nothing like a spider to start up a conversation. We talked for over an hour. She told us all about her life and how she has been rising her kids on her own. She's a really great lady. We hope that our visits with her can be a little more frequent, even if it does involve spiders.

-To top our day off we were able to contact another referral. His name is Randy Sidebottom. (Sweet last name right?) He was married to a member at one point in his life but said that he wasn't ready for the gospel then. Key word: then. Then is over. It’s now. He's really busy with his own detail car shop and coaching football but we are excited to meet with him soon.

Other things of the week:

-It was the Fall Festival over the weekend. It’s kind of like Farmington festival days but the Liberty Mo version. Fe and I stopped by for a minute. It was scary. You could pick us out from miles away. As I was trying to dodge people I went one way and Fe went the other. I checked to make sure Fe was still behind me, but she wasn't. I frantically scanned the crowed and found "the only brown girl" (her words not mine :) ) I had found her but she hadn't found me yet. I stood and watched her for a few minutes spin and twirl with a terrified look on her face. She slapped me when I finally went over to her. We were like 5 year old little girls looking for their mom. We have become that awkward.

-We got to "teach" the combined young women activity in our ward. We had different stations on things they faced in their lives today. I talked about the word of wisdom/entertainment and media. It was really fun. It’s weird to talk to those girls. I swear I was just in Young Women’s like yesterday. Crazy.

-we did a service project with the ward on Saturday. We painted a barn at this manor for battered women. It was really fun. We made it all white and new looking. I felt like my Dad’s slave laborer again, although it just wasn't the same kind of fun without him however.

To top it all off:
Fe and I just got back from the Kansas City Zoo. Elder and Sister Brown let us tag along. It was so much fun. I love animals....that are behind cages. :) We also stopped at Oklahoma Joes on the way back to Liberty. It’s apparently on the list of 13 places you have to eat before you die. It was my first time eating real Kansas City BBQ. It was good but nothing super amazing. I think they all taste the same...but what do I know? Anyway, it’s been a really fun day.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Love you so much. Be safe.

Sister Hall
