Hello everyone!
What a week! Crazy, hot, busy and fabulous :)
We had 3 birthdays at our house, all in 4 days of one another. Sister Rupper's was Tuesday, Sister Whittier's was Wednesday and Sister Juergen's was Friday. We had lots of fun filled activities of chili pepper piƱatas, surprise breakfasts and (way) too much cake...( good thing we workout at 5:30 am) This now means that I'm the youngest out of the 6 of us. It’s weird. Usually I'm the oldest. It’s kind of funny to be the baby of the family :)
We had zone conference Thursday in Platte City. It was AMAZING. Our new mission president, President Keyes as well as his wife are incredible. (Sister Keyes is a sweetheart). She reminds me a lot of Gaylene Packard:) ) Everything he said as well as what everyone else said seemed to be directed toward me. One of the first things that President said was, "I don't care how you got here, I don't care what sacrifices you had to make, I don't care what you left behind and I don't care why you are here. You are here. That is what matters." He then talked about focusing on our Savior and making every aspect of our life's mission and purpose be that focus. "A Christ Centered" focus. It’s perfect. It’s just as it should be.
I have come to realize more in the last 6 months than any other time that we need to center our lives around the Savior. If we follow him and do what he asks we WILL be blessed. Our Savior Jesus Christ is so real. He, as well as our Heavenly Father knows us individually. They know us perfectly, and love us more than we are able to comprehend. The small grasps I have been able to see of that while I have been here have meant so much to me. I can't believe 6 months have almost passed. I don't want this to end. Being here has helped me see what my Heavenly Father has intended me to be. I thought being on a mission was something I could do for the Lord, but really, it has ended up being for me. I am more blessed than I really ever deserve. Wow got a little off topic....anyway, Zone Conference was amazing. It was a very spiritually draining day.
You would think that after such a spiritual high the day couldn't have gotten much better but I was wrong. We were on shift at Liberty Jail for the rest of the night and as I was getting ready to take a tour through, I saw AJ! (Alyssa Nelsen- we were art buddies at school!) It was so exciting. I couldn't believe it. We freaked out for a minute :) She just happened to be visiting history sites with her family. She then told me that they were traveling to Nauvoo so that she could go to the temple and take out her endowments! She's going on a mission to Finland! I had no idea. It was so fun to talk to her and get to say goodbye. I love her.
Have I mentioned my district here? Well, they are pretty great. Some of the Elders are an extreme form of awkward but others are really fun. They always invite us to play basketball. Although I am such a "girl" when I play (while my companion on the other hand is the next female version of Koby Bryant) I still have fun. Our team last week consisted of our deaf zone leaders and our district leader who has one arm! Let’s just say we were a bit challenged :) Speaking of our zone leaders, Elder Cox and Jensen are deaf or I should say hearing impaired, so we get to do lots of sign language at district meetings and p-day activities. Elder Cox bore his testimony at Zone Conference and it may have been one of the most humble, beautiful, testimonies I have ever heard. I love that 19-21 year old boys CAN be wonderful.
It has been a very humbling and trying week. Sister Fie'eiki and I had our patience stretched a bit but I know it’s all for a reason. We were able to see the difference in success when our attitudes were parallel with our purpose. The sisters, elders, members and senior couples are not perfect but this Gospel is. I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who is willing to look past my faults and mistakes and continue to love me and allow me to serve this mission.
I love this Gospel. It is the Church of Jesus Christ.
Thank you for all your support love and prayers. I love you.
Be safe. Have a wonderful week.

PS. A member that invited us to dinner this week has a dog named Tupac. Coolest dog name ever. :)
